Delayed Gratification
The power in delayed gratification is something so many of us need to practise in a world filled with instant gratification.
First: Why does this thing, person, and or experience you want matter?
Second: Why do you want or desire what you are pursuing?
What will it fulfill in you?
Got a void you need to fill
What will happen if you postpone what you want to acquire?
I always suggest you wait 7 days.
The quote: "Act in haste, repent at leisure" is very insightful advise.
We live in a world of instant gratification. Yet for many of us once we have what we wanted/desired not much changed. How often have you and buyers remorse.
So, what do you currently do when you seek gratification be it food, a shiny toy, an experience or a person?
Again I boldly suggest you wait 7 days before you act on the issue.
Delayed gratification is a powerful mindset to develop and practises. The world of marketing is designed to make you want and desire so much. Yet most of it you don't need. Social media intensifies it, often taking it to a fever pitch!
Yes you can get some of the things you desire. However I've often found waiting 7 days or more for the small things and 21 days for the bigger things makes it obvious very often to me that I just did not need that item or experience. Plus your bank account will thank you.
